The Actress’s Crime
(35mm, comedy, 13 minutes, 2007)
Dissented with the small part given to her by the director, an actress tries to widen her part in a theatre play and tires to show her talent through an impulsive acting. To sum up, that is the essence of the short film based on the short story “The Crime of Mariskin Actress”, written by Russian author Arkadi Avertchenkko (1881-1925). Produced by Persona Films, the short will be launched in the next edition of the international Festival of Rio de Janeiro.
The adaptation directed by Elza Cataldo also responsible for the production and script, approaches the universe of a Brazilian theatre troupe in the late XIX century. The State Theatre of Sabara, in Minas Gerais, is the location for this comedy played by actors of Grupo Galpão – a reference for artistic quality in the state and in the country. The cast is formed by Inês Peixoto, Eduardo Moreira, Fernanda Vianna, Antônio Edson, Rodolfo Vaz, Júlio Maciel, Teuda Bara, Simone Ordones e Beto Franco.
“The Actress’s Crime” was awarded in the 2° edition of Film Program in Minas Gerais, promoted by State Department of Culture in Minas Gerais and Cemig, the short film counted with the presence of Anderson Faria as associated producer, photography direction of Pedro Farkas and art direction of Nélio Ribeiro. Costumes and wardrobe is signed by Sayonara Lopes and assembling was made by Arnaldo Mendz and Felipe Minicucci, direct sound is from Gustavo Campos.
